Consecutive interpreting

The speaker talks, you listen right after. Perfect for small meetings and encounters that call for closeness.

Can your speaker pause while talking, and would you rather skip booths and technical equipment? Then consecutive is your format — in Barcelona or wherever your meeting takes place.

In consecutive interpreting, the speaker talks in segments and I take notes using a specific annotation technique (not shorthand, but a system of symbols and visual structure) to reproduce the full speech, with the same precision and nuance, once each segment ends. It requires no booth or technical equipment, making it ideal for small meetings, press conferences, toasts, guided visits, or medical and legal appointments where closeness and a natural flow matter more than total immediacy. The trade-off is that the event runs longer, since each segment is said twice (original + interpretation) — a conversation that flows naturally, even with two languages involved.

Large audience, or need translation with no pauses? Simultaneous interpreting is the option.
